Surface Mount (Retrofit) with Drive Pin Anchors

1.

For ease of installation place a SafeRoute Tile with the surface mount hardware, in the desired position in the pre-cleaned installation area. For maximum results, the concrete should cure for a minimum of 7 to 10 days prior to installation.

2.

Holding the tile securely in the desired location, outline with a marker. Using a marker or drill with a 1/4” bit, mark the predrilled anchor holes. Remove the tile and drill holes to a minimum depth of 2”, removing all concrete dust from holes and surrounding area.

3.

Apply adhesive to cover entire bottom of tile. (Included) To obtain complete coverage we recommend using a ¼ inch tile trowel.

4.

Install the Drive Pin Masonry Fasteners by inserting into the predrilled holes in SafeRoute Tile. Using an appropriate hammer, drive into place until the anchor is flush with top of dome.

5.

Continue the process until the desired numbers of tiles have been installed.

6.

A 3/8” bead of caulk around the perimeter is recommended (Sikaflex 1a sealant or equivalent).

Cast - In - Place (Wet Set)

1.

Install precast concrete anchors into the predrilled hole in the bottom of the SafeRoute tile with ¼ 20 x 1 ½”' screw (supplied with anchor).

2.

After the concrete has been poured and finished to the desired texture, place the SafeRoute tile in the desired location by evenly pressing the attached anchors into the concrete until the tile is flush with the concrete surface and the surrounding area.

3.

Make depth adjustments by lightly tapping around each anchor starting at the center of the tile and work outward to consolidate the concrete and remove any trapped air. Directional adjustments should be minimal and immediate after placement. Once the placement and adjustments are complete, place light weights (if necessary) on the ends and center of the tile to ensure proper adherence to the concrete as it cures.

4.

Continue the process until the desired number of tiles have been installed.

5.

Traffic should be restricted until the concrete is properly cured.
